Overview

FormatFlip is a privacy-first image converter. All image processing happens entirely in your web browser using Canvas API and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Your image files (they never leave your browser)
  • Image contents, metadata, or EXIF data
  • File names or file paths
  • Usage patterns beyond basic page views
  • Personal information without your consent

Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to store:

  • License/subscription status (Pro or Free)
  • Daily usage count (for free tier limits)
  • Cookie consent preference

This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Cookies

We use cookies only with your consent, for:

  • Google AdSense (for free users only, with consent)
  • Authentication session management

You can reject all cookies via the consent banner. Pro users see no ads and thus no AdSense cookies are loaded.

Third-Party Services

  • Google AdSense: Displays ads for free users who have given consent. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Polar: Handles payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Subject to Polar's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare: Hosts and serves the static site. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Authentication & Subscriptions

If you sign up for a Pro subscription, we process your email address and payment information through our authentication service and Polar. This data is used solely for managing your subscription and is not shared with third parties beyond what is necessary for payment processing.

Data Retention

Since we don't collect your files or usage data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Subscription records are maintained as long as your account is active.

Your Rights

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Since FormatFlip processes everything locally, the primary personal data we hold relates to subscription accounts.
